Auditions

Welcome to auditions.ms, where auditions come to you and you go on auditions prepared, and more often.

Audition Tips

Auditioning is something an actor can master and make look effortless. In the meantime, the more experience you have as an actor in the audition process the better you will become at it. The more frequently you audition increases your chances of landing an acting role.

Arrive early to your acting audition. It is recommended to be there at least 15 minutes before your call. This way you will not be worried about missing your call or making a bad impression. It is best to wear clothing that is appropriate for the role you are auditioning for. Do not wear a costume unless this is specifically required.

An actor should remain friendly and positive at all times during the audition. The first thing to do upon arrival is to sign in with the casting assistant. At this time you need to wait and be patient. It is not a good time to be obnoxious and call attention to your self. That could reflect badly on you and may get back to the casting director. Instead use this time to practice your “sides” or lines that will be used for your audition.

Take time to get to know your character. Do what you need to do to connect with the role you are trying out for. You can use this time to visualize the character and hear his or her voice. Relax and take deep breaths. You need to get into your zone. Wait for your name to be called.

Do not worry about being rejected. Rejection goes hand in hand with being cast for a role. You need to get rejected usually many more times than you get cast. One way to look at it is that each rejection is leading you closer to the time you will hear "yes" to being cast. Hang in there and be persistent. Eventually you will not need to go through as many “no’s” to land your next acting or modeling job.
